Hayden Law Update and Happy St. Patrick’s Day

Good news! On March 13, 2012, the Assembly budget subcommittee voted UNANIMOUSLY to leave the Hayden Act as is for now.  This is a big victory for those of us who care for homeless pets, but the work is not done yet:  Round 2 begins on April 11 when the Senate Budget Subcommittee 2 will consider the plan. If you live in California, please write (faxes or letters are best) or call members and urge them not to repeal Hayden Law.

Those members are:

Senator Joe Simitian (Chair)              Phone: (916) 651-4011           Fax: (916) 323-4529

Senator Jean Fuller                          Phone: (916) 651-4018           Fax: (916) 322-3304

Senator Alan Lowenthal                    Phone: (916) 651-4027

Senator Mark Leno is the Chair of the Budget Committee.  Phone:  (916) 651-4003    Fax:  (916) 445-4722

In the meantime, many many thanks to all of you who signed petitions, contacted legislators, blogged or otherwise networked far and wide, and even showed up at the State Capitol in the rain to show your passion for animal welfare.
