Promoting adoption, spay/neuter, and forever homes

(Almost) Wordless Wednesday

Handsome Butch needs a forever home!  His brother Cleveland was adopted last week, and now it is Butch’s turn.  If you would like to add this good-looking fella to your family, stop by Sacramento County Animal Care for a visit.  You can take advantage of the “Feline Frenzy” promotion:  All adult cats (over 1 year old) are only $10 through October 31st.

World Animal Day is celebrated each year on October the 4th. It began in Florence, Italy in 1931 at a convention of ecologists.  On this day, animal life in all its forms is celebrated, and special events are planned on locations all over the globe.  The 4th of October was originally chosen for World Animal Day because it is the feast day of Francis of Assisi, a nature lover and patron saint of animals and the environment.  Numerous churches throughout the world observe the Sunday closest to October the 4th with a Blessing for the Animals.
