Looking for a polydactyl cat?

Sacramento County Animal Care has at least 2 right now.

What is a polydactyl cat?

Polydactyl means "many digits," and refers to an animal with extra toes. (Polydact is a genetic trait, not a separate breed.)  Most domestic cats have a total of 18 toes: five toes on each of their front paws and four toes on each hind paw. Felines born with extra toes are called polydactyl cats, Hemingway cats or mitten cats. Polydactyl cats typically have the extra toes only on their front paws. It’s rare for a polydactyl cat to have extra toes only on their hind paws, and rarer still to have extra toes on all four paws.

More to come on polydactyl cats!
