LAPCATS Fundraiser April 26th: Paint a Portrait of Your Pet

Barb and Emily's paintingsBring out your inner artist and make a portrait you will treasure!

I have to admit that when I first heard of these “paint your pet” fundraisers, I was more than skeptical that the results would be good.  Since then though, I have seen some fabulous portraits done in these classes.  The portraits are on a 16” by 20” canvas that you complete yourself with acrylic paints and direction from local artist, art instructor, and owner of Creative Juices Events Aimee Rebmann.

From the website:

“This is a guided class that’s perfect for all skill levels, so whether you haven’t painted since grade school or fancy yourself the creative type, you’ll find this is the perfect place for you to explore and enjoy feeling creative!  You will be guided step by step on how to create the featured painting so that you’ll be amazed at what you’re able to create.  For those creative types I will encourage you to put your personal stamp on your masterpiece!  After enjoying a fabulous party, each person will have a wonderful painting to hang in their home, give as a gift or donate to a fundraiser!”

How it works:

1.  Register for a class by contacting Leslie at  The cost of the class is $60 and covers classroom, art materials, finger foods, wine, soft drinks, and social interaction.  Attendees must be at least 13 years old, and if under 18, must be accompanied by a parent.

2.  Submit a photo to LAPCATS you would like to reproduce in oil no later than Wednesday, April 10, 2013.  Creative Juices will transfer this image to a 16” by 20” canvas and return it at the class.

3.  Come to class at 5:15 in the Sacramento County Animal Care classroom, 3839 Bradshaw Road, Sacramento.  Acrylic paints and instruction are provided.  Bring your appetite and plan to spend the next few hours creating an oil painting you will treasure!

Register today to save your spot!  Space is limited to 40, and the class will fill fast.

  2. I am so ready to do this! I saw some of the finished products and they were amazing. The people who did them said they never expected that they could end up with such a great picture. It should be really fun.
