Friday Films: Dozer the Marathon Dog
Friday Films is going to the dogs again; actually to one very special dog named Dozer in Maryland.
Dozer is a 3-year-old goldendoodle who achieved quite an accomplishment on May 15, 2011–he joined the more than 2,000 people running the Maryland Half Marathon, a race that benefits the UM Greenebaum Cancer Center. Dozer became a last -minute entry when he escaped through an invisible fence in his yard to join the runners passing by his house, which was near mile 5 of the race.
Since then, Dozer has received an official race finishers’ medal—and lots of dog treats—by race co-chairmen Michael Greenebaum and Jon Sevel. Dozer has also raised thousands of dollars for cancer research at the University of Maryland Marlene and Stewart Greenebaum Cancer Center via his runners’ page, where people go to donate and post comments of support. You can visit Dozer’s runner’s page or Dozer’s Facebook Page to join the fun and help support a great cause.
Dozer’s exploits have also been featured on the websites of ESPN, Runner’s World and the Baltimore Sun, among others.
