Friday Films: Canine Freestyle–Ashleigh and Pudsey win Britain’s Got Talent
Canine Freestyle, maybe better known as “Dancing with Dogs”, really hit the big time when the phenomenal duo Ashleigh Butler and her dog Pudsey won Britain’s Got Talent in 2012. Their routine—actually one of several done throughout the competition–reflects many, many hours of practice and even better yet, a wonderful bond between the young woman and her dog.
Canine Freestyle (or Canine Musical Freestyle) is an established modern dog sport with competitions in several countries. It’s also been referred to as the “tail wagging” sport.
“Canine Freestyle is a choreographed performance organized with music, illustrating the training and joyful relationship of a dog and handler team. Freestyle is an excellent discipline to illustrate the conformation and movement of the dog. The reach, drive and beauty of an athletic, trained dog moving to music can take one’s breath away. ~ Canine Freestyle Organization
