Friday Films: I am a Black Cat

Tomorrow, August 17th, is Black Cat Appreciation Day—International Black Cat Appreciation Day, as I understand cat aficionados in countries other than the U.S. have picked it up.  Concerned that black cats and kittens are often the last to be adopted from shelters, Wayne Morris began started a page on Facebook called  For the Love of Black Cats (Black Cat Appreciation Page).  His purpose?  “For the Love of Black Cats – to bring awareness to the world about the joy of living with a black cat, to dispel myths about black cats, and to help black cats across the globe get out of shelters alive. Please join and help black cats everywhere!”  He now has 94,515 followers.

Locally black cats and kittens have many fans too.  One of them–Valerie Heimerich of HART Rescue–even made a video celebrating the joys of sharing your life with a black cat or kitten.  We’ve featured if here before a year or so ago, but it’s a good video with a great message, and definitely worth a rerun.  Do you have a black cat or kitten in your life?
