Promoting adoption, spay/neuter, and forever homes

Happy Black Cat Appreciation Day!

Today is National Black Cat Appreciation Day!  Black cats–and dogs–often have a more difficult time being adopted from shelters and rescues.  There are several theories to explain this, including negative superstitions, myths and “old wives tales” and it’s just harder to see a black cat’s features.  Anyone who has tried to photograph a black animal knows it is usually much more difficult.  The animal’s face sometimes seems to disappear if the lighting is not just right.

LAPCATS loves black cats, but then we love all of the other colors and patterns too.  There are few things more spectacular that soft, shiny, obsidian-black fur though.  Because today is Black Cat Appreciation Day, we want to showcase the 13 beautiful black kitties currently up for adoption with LAPCATS.

Needless-to-say, if any of these sweethearts could find a forever home with you, please complete our online application at and we’ll set up a date to meet.
