Friday Films: Happy Dogs—and a Cat—in Australia

Our friend from Australia, animal trainer Robert Dollwet, shows off his skills again today with a new video inspired by Pharrell Williams’ mega hit “Happy”.  It’s also a great way to end the week and prepare for the weekend.  In addition to the dogs, Dollwet’s famous skateboard-riding cat Didga is included.

Dollwet and his animal stars live in Coolangatta, Australia, and Dollwet posts on YouTube as "Catmantoo." Dollwet’s company is Malabu Dog Training.  You can read more Didga, Dollwet and his training methods on his website.  You can also follow them on Catmantoo’s Facebook page.

Friday Films: Suki at Eight Months

ANCD01-cat-set-1-3This came to me from a post on Facebook from Jackson Galaxy (My Cat From Hell) and I don’t have any other background on the young lady or the cat, but they are pretty amazing.  I love dog agility and took classes many years ago with my Border Collies.  Agility is all about training, the bond between the animal and the handler, and getting the animal to read the handler’s body language to know what to do next.  It’s a real challenge to do with dogs (who are usually interested in your every move), so—if you live with cats—you can understand what this young girl has accomplished!  I’d love to learn more about them and see more of their talent as both grow up.

Friday Films: Wanna Go For A Walk?

Today on Friday Films I was going to feature a tutorial video by trainer Robert Dollwet on how to clip your cat’s nails, but I stumbled on his video below and thought it would be more fun. Wouldn’t it be great to have this kind of relationship with a cat?

purrr Robert Dollwet has been a professional animal trainer for over 33 years. Originally from southern California, he relocated to the Gold Coast of Australia in January 2009.  Although he primarily trains dogs, he also trains cats and admits he has gotten a lot more response on YouTube from his cat videos.  He explains, “I’m a Cat Man Too and have a few viral cat videos. Check out my YouTube channels Cat Man Too and Malibu Dog Training.”

Dollwet cautions, “Please, do not try "at home" many of the things you see in this video-I am a professional animal trainer. If you want to learn how to teach your animals, watch my tutorials. Thanks for the "likes", sharing, comments and for subscribing. Wanna go for a walk? was published on Nov 8, 2012. You can find Dollwet on Facebook too.

Friday Films: Kido’s First Shell Game

Today’s video was just published January 7, 2013, and has already gone viral–nearly a million hits!  I even saw it on the TV news Tuesday.  This is one fun cat!

.

“I know all cats and dogs are smart. The main purpose of sharing this video is not to show how smart Kido is, but to share my joy of knowing that Kido was willing to play shell game with me and he got it right, regardless of how he did it. If you are a pet owner, you know how hard it is to get them to do something, especially on the first time (without previous training). So I am proud of him!”

~ Kido’s Mom

One Smart Cat!

According to his human, Kido was abandoned twice by two different families due to various reasons in the first 6 months of his life.  When he was about to be listed on a shelter’s kill-list, she met him and he has become the love of her life.  She continues, “I can never understand how people would abandon a sweet and fun kitty like Kido.  It’s their loss and I hope they will realize.  I hope all homeless animals can find their forever loving home.”  Sounds like our kind of people.

Kido lives in Brooklyn, NY, with his humans.  He even has his own page on Facebook:
